Gamble gamble!

Happy Diwali everybody!

Notice anything different? I'm blogging in English! The reason behind it is as simple as wanting to share the blog with as many readers as possible - and switching language does help. Incentive came from Umang who wanted to read it and I proposed Google Translate as a way to read it in English - good translation, but not good enough.

I'm done with my week in the States and I'm writing to you on-board the 8-9hr VIA Canada train from Windsor back to Montréal. Here in North America, not all doors necessarily open at every station so on these Canadian trains you'll hear announcements such as,
"We're approaching London - please note that doors in cabin 3,6,7 will be used for disembarkment."
In the U.S they don't seem as... service-minded... When I took the Amtrak train from Detroit out to Ann Arbor last week they had a similar scheme there but they deliver the message in the most inappropriate way ever.
"We're approaching Ann Arbor - please note that not all doors will open at this station."
?!?! This actually sparked a woman on board to say out loud, "Why the hell are they telling me what I don't want to know rather than telling me what I do want to know? Which doors are gonna open?"

My uncle (who I'll be referring to as Mausa - the Indian term) drove me up to Windsor last night and we checked into Caesars for the night. Windsor is apparently well-known for its Casino and the fact that the drinking and gambling age is 19 - so you'll find a lot of young Americans travelling across the Detroit-Windsor border. It was a very fancy casino and I wasted 20 bucks on the slots. At one stage I was up at 60 bucks and was considering cashing it in - but hey, if I had made it to 60 I could just as easily make it to 70 which is just a stone's throw away from a million dollars... which was the amount I had promised Elin I'd make (:p) but I lost it all pretty quickly. Meanwhile, Mausa was enjoying himself elsewhere and he reimbursed me with a 25-dollar chip so overall I made a 5-dollar profit from the evening! Score! I had a great time and the view from our room was pretty nice so I'll be sure to upload a photo it as soon as I get the chance!

I did have a coffee this morning but the sun is shining right on my face at the moment so I think I'll go for a nap all the same!

Stay tuned!
